Modern By Design was opened in May 2011 by the team at The Purple Moon, West Virginia?s only mid-century modern gallery, to add lines of new home furnishings, accessories and art. With a hand-selected collection of custom upholstered furniture and iconic designs owners Chuck and Connie Hamsher continue to apply their 'collectors eye' to each of the offerings in the separate showroom located one door down from The Purple Moon. With a passion for modern and contemporary design the staff of Modern By Design work tirelessly to provide high quality home furnishings and accessories to their customers in a 'boutique' atmosphere. We operate under the philosophy best stated by Russel Wright ''Good design is for everybody'' and give each customer the personal attention they need to obtain a space which is a reflection of themselves and guided by their own creative process. In addition to modern home furnishings and accessories Modern By Design also offers a full line wall coverings and fabrics to round out every detail needed to create stunning environments in which to live, work and play.
