SUCCESStrategies: Lean in 3D October 2013

Date: October 24, 2013 Time: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Sorry, public registration for this event has been closed. Please call our office for assistance.
Event Description Join us October 24, 2013, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charleston Area Alliance, 1116 Smith Street in Charleston, to learn how local companies are incorporating Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology with Lean Principles. The Robert C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing (RCBI) presents the one-day seminar and demonstration of Lean in 3D.

From simple shapes to complex designs, traditional manufacturing techniques can take weeks of costly production. Using a 3D Printer at RCBI in conjunction with innovative AM technology, you can turn your idea into a physical item in just hours.

Beyond rapid prototyping, AM technology is already used for limited production runs.

And it’s not just for traditional manufacturing industries. Medical, design and architecture, the arts and tourism markets are using 3D printing and AM technologies.

The process is Lean – it requires less material and energy and approaches one-piece flow with fewer set ups. It’s also precise because of design software that quickly allows you to alter your digital file and prototype to make a product that is easily customized yet still meets exact specifications.

The registration fee is $159 for each participant. Registration deadline is Oct. 22. Seating is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
